BACKGROUND AND OVERVIEW

The Goal of the "Kenya Primary Education Project in Poor Urban Areas of Nairobi (KPEP)” is to contribute to the achievement of “Universal Free Primary Education” which was introduced in 2003 and the “Education for All” commitments consistent with the country’s Poverty Reduction Strategy.

The KPEP is a development initiative between the Government of Kenya and the Federal Republic of Germany under the German-Kenyan Financial Cooperation.

It is implemented through an agreement between the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) as financing agency and the City Council of Nairobi (CCN) assisted by an International Consultant as implementing agency.
