THE
TECHNICAL COMPONENT
The
Project concerns the new construction and rehabilitation of primary school
buildings in poor urban areas of Nairobi, the provision of
adequate ancillary
facilities, furniture and teaching materials. The Award of Contracts for goods and other services
will be restricted to locally registered Contractors.
The « Technical
Component » of the project shall be responsible for:

Site Selection, Design,
Planning, Tender, Award, Supervision of Construction Works, Reporting and
administration of Project Funds.

Construction
of about
223 New
Classrooms
and
70 Ancillary Rooms
(administration, workshops ..) appropriate Sanitary Facilities
(400
toilets),
Multipurpose Hall, Kitchen, Landscaping and Sport Grounds (foot, volleyball
and basket ball)

Rehabilitation of about
102
Classrooms
and
30 Ancillary Rooms
including
Sanitary Facilities (50
toilets)
that are not or partly functional.

Provision
of adequate Furniture and Teaching
Material
Connection of schools to the urban supply networks, wherever technically
feasible and financially viable (water, electricity etc.
